It’s no understatement that Texas is HOT HOT HOT!
Almost every day during the week that we arrived was over 105 degrees (about 40+ C). It was clear that we had arrived in the middle of the hottest heat wave in 3 years, and 3 years ago was the last time that we were here for the summer. There was no time of day that was completely pleasant for running. The best that we could do was wait until about 10pm, when Elijah was tucked into bed, and off we’d go to get some couple exercise time in. Even if we had brought our jogging stroller, there was no way that Elijah could have been outside in these temperatures. In the last few days things have “cooled off” quite a bit, and we are looking at roughly 98 degrees during the day and 90 during the evening. Thankfully, we love the heat and we have a pool here. When there is a breeze, it is wonderful to be in the pool, under the umbrella. Elijah absolutely loves the water, and all of the floating devices that his grandparents have for us to play with.
We are coming out of the worst teething stage ever experienced in the last 14 months. I have to admit that, in almost every area, we have had it super easy with Eli. Even teething has been no stress at all, but since we arrived (it started on our third flight over here) Eli has been a little moody during the day, and waking up frequently during the night in pain. As you can see in the above picture, he often just grabs his gums.
If only we could get Eli to wear a hat! He used to look so cute in them, but those days are gone. Hats don’t stay on his head for more than 2 seconds now. We love pictures of him above, he looks like Yosemite Sam!
Happy days by the pool.
This is what vacations are made of!!
