There are a few awesome dates to be born on, but I think that one of the best would have to be St.Patrick’s Day. No matter where we are, or what day of the week it is, there is always someone celebrating on the night of my birthday. This year we had little Elijah with us (yup, first birthday with baby boy) so we didn’t go searching for a party, we decided to make one of our own. Let me start by explaining how my birthday began: Justin woke me up with coffee and a box of gifts. He bought me a couple of new colours for my nails, tons and tons of chocolate (I didn’t even get a photo before I had eaten half of them), and the best of all, he got me a Fitbit Charge HR*. What is that? Well, my husband knows me all too well – basically this wristband continuously measures your heart rate, with all-day activity tracking, sleep monitoring, and more. Yup, now I will know exactly how little sleep I get when Elijah is going through a growth spurt. haha. Just kidding. I’m super excited about this gift because it is 100% the kind of gadget that I LOVE!!
*Fitbit Charge HR Wireless Heart Rate + Activity Wristband: This heart rate and activity tracking wristband is built to capture your movements and health patterns all day long. Easily monitor your heart rate so you can maximize your workouts, learn about your sleep quality and monitor progress on your goals.
After a few days of Elijah being moody and restless, I woke up to my normal sweet Elijah… It was like he knew it was my birthday. He played happily on his mat while I drank coffee, ate chocolate, and blogged away for hours. It was, without a doubt, the perfect morning. That evening we met a group of friends downtown, at a restaurant called ‘The Diner 22’, to enjoy a meal together.

My sweet friend, McKenzie arrived with a huge chocolate cake that she baked especially for me. It was a wonderful surprise! We had delicious food – I had to have my favourite meal at The Diner, the Pecan encrusted Chicken Salad – a couple of beers, and lots of good conversation and laughter.

After dinner things got a little crazy when we went to a nearby spot and took advantage of their photo booth. Those pictures are absolutely HILARIOUS. I am so happy that we ended off the night there, because we laughed until our stomaches hurt. It was the perfect end to my birthday! We will show you the best of those silly pictures within the next few days.
I got some really lovely gifts. Look at those amazingly cute chocolates! They didn’t last very long – trust me, they were irresistible!! I have basically been pigging out on chocolate since early on the morning of my birthday.
Thank you to everyone who shared my birthday with me. For all the gifts and love.
To all those who are not in China, thank you for the sweet messages and calls.
This was a wonderful birthday – I am very grateful!
