Our First Picture of Baby!
Firstly, we have to start off by saying that we LOVED seeing our little baby’s face for the first time at our 4D ultrasound. There was a huge flat screen on the wall, and we both got to see the video as the technician scanned my belly. We “awwwww”ed and “ahhhh”ed so many times – and so loudly – that they must have thought we were crazy. This really was a wonderful experience. At first it looked like his thumb was in his mouth, or he was covering his face, but when he moved those precious little hands we got an awesome view of his face and it was perfect. From the side his nose looks just like Justin’s but from the front it looks more like mine – that’s two completely different noses rolled into one. We saw his little legs and they were crossed over each other, like he was laying back and chilling. It still completely amazes me that he’s inside me… Growing and developed every single day! We hoped that they would confirm what we had found out in Thailand – that baby is in fact a boy – but they didn’t, so we will have to keep on assuming that those Thai medical technicians got it right. As I mentioned in yesterday’s post, we don’t mind if baby comes out as a boy or girl – but we have a lot of blue clothes and a perfect boy’s name. hahaha!
It seems that Chinese hospitals are crazy about scans, and I can see them getting frustrated with us when we start refusing them as the weeks go by. Initially we were having one a month, now it’s one every two weeks, and in the final five to six weeks they will probably ask us to do one every time when we go in for our weekly check-up. They almost don’t understand why we go for check-ups if we don’t want to do the ultrasounds, but we don’t feel that they are all that necessary. So even though this 4D scan is not routinely done in the States or South Africa, we decided to do it anyway so that we could hear the news that baby’s organs were all functioning well and looking good. And, of course, we wanted to get a glimpse of little one’s adorable face!
Hi Little One – We love you so much!
We are so grateful for this special experience.
It’s incredible how quickly this pregnancy is flying by… We are already in week 29, so we could meet our baby in as little as 9-10 weeks. Hopefully he stays in there for as long as he needs to, and is born big, strong and ready to face the world. It feels like it’s so long until then, and yet it is also so close!
