I got a treadmill in September, and I really love it! I bought it from someone here in Qingdao, and she gave me a great deal on it. I had one in South Korea, but we ended up moving to China shortly after I got that one so I had to say goodbye. This new one is actually a bit bigger and better. I used it a few times before our trip to the Philippines, but since we returned I have been slack in forming a good routine! It might be a bit of low motivation mixed with the fact that I am the queen of busying myself! Even though I stay at home everyday now, I still have stacks I need/ like/ want to get done. Add to that equation, a 5 month old baby, and you tend to slack off in the exercise department. Things are, however, about to change! I found a great “Killer Kardio” workout on Pinterest, and I am going to give it a shot this week. I’m pretty sure that I won’t even make it through the first set without falling over panting, but I’m going to give it my all and hope that eventually I am able to complete it. WATCH THIS SPACE!
To keep me running, I put the treadmill next to our TV. Yeah sure, it’s kind of an eye-sore but who cares. I really love the distraction of being able to watch something, and even though I mostly just play music videos, I am able to zone into those when I’m not feeling much like jogging. Besides that, staring at a wall is preeeeettty boring! With a baby in the house, I can’t pump music through my earphones like I used to before, so this is a great alternative. I’m not always this lucky, but for the most part I can get a run in while Elijah naps or while he sits in his chair. Now that he’s trying to get moving, he is not as happy for long stretches in the chair. Pretty soon I will have to get up before he does in the morning so that I can run uninterrupted. I’m not even going to thinking about what happens when he’s crawling. Up until now, he has been a champ and I am very appreciative of that. He stares at my legs as I run – maybe they are some weird kind of fitness baby mobile for him. Most of the time he is so relaxed – or hypnotised – that he just falls asleep, which makes me smile.
