All in a Day’s Work│A quick random post about a day in September. While going through some old pictures on my phone, I came across a modeling job that Elijah did two months ago. I love when I completely forget about a day – probably because that week was busy – and then later I find pictures, and the memories of that day come rushing back into my mind. This little guy of mine is just so stinking cute! We are so in love with him, his mannerisms, and his gentle soul. Whenever Eli gets called to a modeling job I always take a couple of hours to consider whether of not I want to do it. Although Eli is easy-going most of the time, he is an explorer. He’s not the kind of kid to stay in one spot for 2 hours, look directly at a camera, or smile on demand. WHAT KID IS, RIGHT?? He is completely in his own world.. and to be honest, I love that about him.
Above, On this day Eli was asked to model for a company that makes playmats. He did pretty well, especially considering that they wanted him to remain on the mats for an extended period. As you can see, Eli was exhausted by the time we left. I put him into the Ergo and he was asleep as soon as we started the journey back home.
Below, Eli sitting behind the carseat on the way to the modeling job. I love-hate that he does this in taxis. I don’t think that there is any safe place for a toddler to sit in a car if they don’t have a car seat, but behind the seat somehow feels mildly safer. I hate it though because it is so darn dirty down there. This is, however, the only place that he wants to sit, and keeping him on the backseat is quite a challenge.
It was a long drive home, and when we arrived, Eli woke up hungry. I grabbed him a bag of freshly steamed baozi, a yogurt, and some biscuits, and we went to sit in the gardens of our complex. Since this was a warm September afternoon, we were happy to be outside and enjoying the good weather.
When we go to model jobs, I always try to take bubbles with – in fact, I take anything and everything that can keep little man entertained! After our picnic-style lunch, we played with sticks and stones, and we blew bubbles.
A short clip of Eli enjoying the bubbles…
That afternoon, when my students arrived for class, Eli impressed them with his spelling skills. The boys were amazed!
This was a wonderful day – and not all modeling job days are – so I want to remember it just as it was. It is truly a blessing to be able to stay home with my child, and to have the opportunities to do jobs like this. I love seeing him in his short sleeved shirts and shorts. It is already bitterly cold here, and he is all bundled up most of the time. When summer comes round, I love seeing those little knees!
I hope you enjoyed the little flashback to September.
