An Austrian Lunch Date│Lend-Platzl
On one of our last afternoons Austria, we were treated to a delicious lunch at Gasthaus Lend-Platzl in Graz. This restaurant is owned by the Klug Family, and of course, they are like family to use… so I’m going to go ahead and say this is “our family restaurant”. hahaha… Just kidding! After hearing so much about this place, it was good to finally sit back, eat some delicious food, drink tasty sparkling apple drinks, and enjoy the wonderful company of friends. These are, of course, our dear friends from China. The ones that we said goodbye to in 2015, the ones who left us the awesome apartment that we currently live in, and family who took care of Eli while Justin and I drove off alone to enjoy a couple of days in Slovenia. Yup – you know who I’m talking about!
While we were waiting on our lunch, I took a walk across the road to check out the Lendplatz Farmers Market. Breads, cheese, fruits, flowers, jams and dried meats… This market got all of my senses working overtime. One of my most favorite things is walking through markets such as this. More on that in another post!
Here are some pictures from our lunch at Lend-Platzl.
(I shameless stole some of these pictures from the restaurant’s website – Thank you Lend-Platzl)
Above, Vogerlsalat mit gerösteten Eierschwammerl.
A literal translation for the greens above is “Bird salad”, and on top are roasted wild mushrooms. A tasty salad in a vinaigrette.
Since we were in Austria, we had to try a schnitzel. Justin had the pork schnitzel, which had pumkin seeds in the batter (a nice touch), and Eli had the chicken schnitzel. Just in case you were wondering HOW to properly enjoy a schnitzel, Eli thought he would demonstrate…
A big thanks to The Klug family for a wonderful family lunch date. Nik’s family have done a great job with this restaurant, and we are grateful to have been able to visit! Just another day of great moments spent together. Since we no longer live in the same country, we are truly grateful for memories like this.
