This post is for my sweet friend, Angie. I was honoured to be able to throw her a baby shower a couple of months ago, just before it was time for her and her husband to leave Qingdao. They have been living in China for two years, and during the time we have grown to love these two (nearly three) very much. I’m sure you’ll remember them from many of our posts.
After looking through a few options, and taking into consideration that we were in China (i.e. without any hobby/ craft stores) I presented Angie with a few options for a theme. Her and hubby decided on a Bee theme. This is really an adorable theme, and it has so many options to go with. We didn’t know if we would find out the sex of little baby Logsdon before the shower. In case we did, I printed a few “What will it Bee?” decorations and games. To play it safe, I assumed that we wouldn’t know, and mainly based the decor on a “Mommy-to-Bee” theme. I found many printables on Pinterest, and made much of the decor by hand. I am excited to share all of that with you in another post. For now, here are some pictures of Angie and all of her friends at her Mommy-to-Bee baby shower. As you can see, I held the party at one of our favourite restaurants, and while I hosted, Angie’s husband kindly took photos of all the excitement.
We dressed Eli up in a little bee onesie with bee shoes. Angie loves him so much, so I made sure that they matched. I made the Mommy-to-Bee a little bee head band. Her and Elijah were too cute in their matching outfits!
While the ladies enjoyed the party upstairs, the husbands and kids enjoyed dinner downstairs. It was a beautiful evening so the kids played outside. It was nice having everyone at one location, and with the restaurant as large as it is, we were able to still remain separate and all have a great time. Let’s face it – men don’t really enjoy baby showers anyway!
After everyone had eaten and socialised, we played a few games. The ladies were pretty enthusiastic, and they really had a good laugh. We played “Which baby did it?” (a game that we had played at my baby shower too – organised by sweet Heather). During the shower preparations, I had emailed both Trent and Angie’s parents, and got as many funny baby stories and facts from them as I could. Of course, some of them were pretty obviously gender-based, but still, hearing them was hilarious!
Justin was being an amazing daddy (as usual!!). Elijah likes to fall asleep with mommy, but Justin took control of everything and kept little man entertained all evening, and then soothed until he went to sleep. It is NOT easy to have a breastfed baby, and organised and then host a party. Thankfully my kind friend, Elisabeth, came to pick up Elijah in the afternoon, while Justin and I set up for the party. Again – seriously amazing husband. We could only do this on a weekday, so there was no one to help me set up. I am so grateful for all the generous help with the set up and with caring for Elijah. Little man played with Elisabeth’s two daughters, at their house, while we set up and got everything ready. This was the first time that someone had picked up Elijah and taken him away from both Justin and I. It was so comforting to know that Eli was completely happy, even as Liz carried him away from the restaurant without us. He sure does love his Aunty Liz and his two “sisters”.
That’s what happens when you give daddy-to-bee your camera for the night. Trent was going nuts and photographing everything. Actually I loved getting my camera back at the end of the night and seeing what all he had taken pictures of. He’s like a big kid!!!
Thank you for taking pictures while I was busy Trent!
We all had a fantastic evening, and we can’t wait to see Trent and Angie again in Texas. They live in the same State as Justin’s parents. Isn’t that amazing?! Even though we met on the other side of the world, we will be able to see them every time we return to Texas! I am very honoured that I was able to host Angie’s Mommy-to-Bee baby shower.
