Yesterday we had a mommy-baby date at a friend who lives about 5 km away. It is an easy bus ride, which goes directly from our apartment to hers. No walking and hardly any waiting. Usually we take the bus there but since the weather was not too bad, I decided to put Elijah into my awesome running stroller and run there instead. As you can see, he is snug as can be in his super-duper stroller insert. The insert is lined with fleece, and straps perfectly into his seat. I wish I could get in there too! I dressed him as warmly as possible, and then set out on the road. Despite the fact that I have run on my treadmill a few times since having Elijah, it felt like I hadn’t been running in forever. I really enjoyed it. The fresh air. The freedom. The ground beneath my feet. I love running, more now than I ever have. I especially love running with this stroller! Through the roof of his canopy, I can see Elijah. He looked around curiously for about 15 minutes and then fell asleep. I imagine that it was a combination of the warm, the comfort, and the motion of the jogging stroller that put him to sleep.
I’m grateful for my treadmill, but I really do love running outside. The leaves are all changing from green to yellow, orange, red and brown. The streets are littered with these beautiful colours as the leaves fall and gather on sidewalks. This is a beautiful season, and I hope that we get out soon again for another run. At the very least, I know that I can run to my friend for our weekly hangout.
