We had already booked our accommodation for Koh Samui before we left Chiang Mai. Sometimes we like to explore our options when it comes to hotels, but there are other times – for example, after a lot of traveling – where there’s nothing worse than traipsing your bags around in the heat. Knowing that our 22 hour journey from northern to southern Thailand might tire us out, we went ahead and booked something before we got there. Justin had a hard time finding something in our price range, roughly $30, but eventually he found this place. We knew we wanted to stay near Chaweng Beach, but apparently there are no longer bungalows along the seaside – all that space has been bought up by fancy resorts. Most of them wanted about $100 – $150 per night, and with us being on vacation for a full month, that just wasn’t an option for us.
We ended up staying on Koh Samui for five days, and while we were there we did a lot of walking, eating, relaxing, and even a day trip to Ang Thong National Park for some hiking, snorkelling and kayaking. More on our island adventures coming soon.
