Birthday Lunch Date│Lisa’s. The weather has been hot and humid lately. I keep seeing people post things about how great the weather has been, and all I can’t think is, They must be insane!! This is the (only) problem with going away for the whole summer. We aren’t here to experience that height of the heat and humidity with the those that stay. So when we return at the end of summer, things are only as hot and clammy as when you left at the beginning of July. Nevertheless, it hasn’t been TOO bad so I planned to take Justin down to the beach after work. I thought that we could have a picnic and enjoy the sunset. On the day before his birthday, the weather forecast showed rain for the next day. ALL. DAY. LONG!
Thankfully, Justin’s birthday fell on a Tuesday this year. Our weekly family lunch date is on Tuesday, so we were able to meet for a nice two hour lunch. Instead of trying something new, we went to the place where we almost always go on our family lunch dates. There is a restaurant called Lisa’s Restaurant, located in the mall next to Justin’s school. We met there for lunch, and shared a lasagne, some fried chicken and a seafood soup.
Before we knew it, Justin had to get back to school so he walked Eli and I to the bus stop. The same bus stop that I waited at every day while I was pregnant with the little man. Since I don’t often go back there, it is always a bit nostalgic when I do.
Instead of going all the way home, I decided to stop at another shopping mall along the way. This might sound odd, but in China the malls often don’t have all of the “foreign” stores that we want. For example, the mall by Justin’s school doesn’t have an H&M, so I had to go to a different mall for that. Those kinds of inconveniences are a way of life here!
With Eli asleep in his stroller, I decided to do some shopping. We ended up staying at that mall until Justin was done with work (he ends earlier on a Tuesday). With the rain still coming down, the beach picnic was definitely out of the picture. We bought some take-out from one of our favorite Chinese restaurants, and took it home.
The rest of Justin’s birthday was spent watching movies and enjoying a feast of food! It wasn’t a very exciting birthday, BUT we have a seven day National Holiday starting tomorrow, so we are hoping to do another birthday celebration in the next couple of days.
