Bondi Beach: Beers and Burgers
This world-famous beach is said to have it’s name rooted in an aboriginal word (“Bondi”), meaning water breaking over rocks, or tumbling water. From here one can watch the sunrise, before jumping into the ocean for an invigorating swim in the turquoise waters in the Pacific Ocean. Beyond this iconic beach, there are plenty of other things to do in this area – dining, markets, coastal walks, and a buzzing year-round nightlife. Surfers of all skill levels head to Bondi Beach to try out the waves, and this is, of course, the main reason that Bondi Beach is as popular as it is! With beach life so ingrained in Bondi’s culture, it’s no surprise that the area is a haven for beach and swimwear shopping.
On our second day in Sydney, we took the subway over to Bondi Beach. It was pleasantly surprising how simple and efficient the transportation system in Sydney is. We got from Kings Cross to Bondi Park without any trouble at all. Once there we strolled around for a bit, and then settled down at a small restaurant for some amazing burgers and beer.
After lunch we took a slow scenic stroll along the gorgeous coastline.
