Oh the wonderful first meal after a period of fasting! After ten days of juice fast pictures and updates, here it is: me breaking the fast. I have to admit, I really do think I could have done with a longer fast (alas, my silly juicer broke) but I am happy with the detoxification effects that I experienced, and the fact that I feel refreshed and motivated to eat clean.
On Sunday Justin and I went on a lunch date after church. It was then that I broke my fast, with an amazing salad, at The Diner. My salad, named “The Diner Salad”, consisted of avocado, chicken, bacon, a boiled egg, cashews, walnuts, cherry tomatoes and lettuce. As you can see – in the background of the image below – Justin had pizza, and although it did smell wonderful, I wasn’t at all tempted to eat any of it. I was perfectly happy with my salad. I didn’t even want the bread which came with my salad… and I ALWAYS want the bread! Every single bite of my salad was an incredible explosion of flavors in my mouth. I especially loved the avocado and the cashews. I wish that every meal could taste that way. I had to repeatedly remind myself to slow down and savor every bite!
