Gifts from his Great Granny M
Even before Elijah was born, we started receiving gifts in the mail from loved ones. Packages arrived from the States, South Africa and London. Since we have lived abroad for a number of years now, we can tell you one thing with certainty, and that is that care packages make us grin with delight! It doesn’t even matter what is inside them – there’s just something comforting about receiving a box filled with love from home! Shortly after Eli’s birth we received three such boxes. One from Great Grandma Marge in South Dakota, USA, and one from each set of Elijah’s Grandparents. Although he is too young to appreciate these care packages right now, we are greatly appreciative on his behalf!
Above you can see what Eli’s great granny sent him. Two onesies and a blanket that she knitted for him. We wanted to dress little man in one of these outfits last week, for his first 4th of July, but he is still to small to fit in either of them! That’s the sad part about kid’s clothes. If it doesn’t fit them for the holiday this year, it definitely won’t fit them when that same holiday comes around next year. He’ll be just over a year old on the next 4th of July. Crazy!
Gifts from Eli’s SA Grandparents
Elijah’s grandparents in South Africa are nothing short of obsessed with him, and they LOVE to see him on Skype! They sent a huge box of baby gifts in May, but this was a small care package of essentials, which included a picture of my family for Eli’s bedroom and a small teddy bear that was mine when I was in younger. Grandpa Moose gets especially excited to see this little guy, and we can’t wait for them to meet. If only all the grandparents could see him now, when he’s still just a tiny little newborn.
We needed some baby first-aid essentials that we hadn’t yet found here, so Elijah’s American grandparents sent those to us in a box with some personal things, like these Baby Calendars…
Justin’s Baby Calendar from his First Year
Justin’s mother kept calendars for the first two years of Justin’s life. She was able to find more of those same calendars for us to keep a record of Elijah’s first two years, and she photocopied Justin’s information so that we could compare daddy’s and son’s progress. We thought that this was a really sweet idea!
Thank you for the thoughtful care packages family!!
