Now, I understand that they want to keep their kids warm, but what I don’t understand is how despite all these layers, they still have the Chinese-style slit in the pants which exposes the poor little one’s private parts (which are evidently not so private here). Chinese-style potty training involves a convenient slit in the back of every layer of their clothes. Small babies sit on their granny’s laps and pee onto the street while granny spreads their legs. Toddlers squat whenever the need arises. So as you can image, this custom means lots of bare butts and pee on the streets, but again… it leaves us wondering, how are those poor little butts and delicate parts NOT FREEZING cold!?! I can barely make it through the coldest months without gloves on, and there are thousands of babies walking about with their weiners out!
We took the above picture during summer, but still, you get the “split pants” reference. Below you can see what I mean about the ‘marshmallow babies’, and how cold those poor little butts must be!
There is TONS of stuff like this to buy over here – so obviously, we have to search a little harder, and pay quite a bit more for what we would consider “normal-looking” baby clothes. That is why we are so grateful to those who have already sent us some clothes baby clothes! I’m sure that at the end of this year, when our little munchkin is about 6 months old, and the harsh winter temperatures have set in, we will be receiving MANY unwanted comments about how “under-dressed” our child is. I’m pretty sure that when that happens, we will have some really funny (albeit slightly annoying) stories to share with you!
Spring is on it’s way, and for the sake of all those little cold bums, I sure am glad!!
