China Groceries: Raw Eggs in a Bag│It has been a couple of months since we did a China Groceries post. For those that haven’t been following us for very long, here is a quick recap!
“In this series called “China Groceries”, we give you a weekly glimpse at some of the weird and wonderful things that we get to see, almost on a daily basis, when we go to the grocery store. In China we don’t do big trips to the grocery store, mainly because we don’t have a car, but also because that is just not a way of life here. We basically buy fresh vegetables everyday (sometimes every second day), and often we pick up bread and yogurt every couple of days too. Meat is easy to pick up on a daily basis too, but we prefer to buy that in advance and freeze it.
On our frequent trips to the grocery store, we get to see some of the most unbelievable things. I’m sure that most of what we could show you might horrify you, so we will try to also show the amusing and amazing things that we come across. If there are a few weeks in a row that we show only gross things, you’ll have to excuse us – there really is so much that you probably won’t believe could possibly be true!”

This week on China Groceries – Raw Eggs in a Bag. I have asked around and there is no special Chinese reasoning for this. Quite simply, these eggs were damaged during transportation from the farm to the store. In order to avoid wasting them, the store placed those broken egg into a bag, and they are selling them as you see them. Crazy, but true!
