This Christmas we were blessed with two opportunities to celebrate the birth of Jesus with our friends here in Qingdao. We opened our gifts on Christmas Eve, and the following day, we walked over to The Mosby’s to have brunch with them. We did this last year too. We were pregnant with Elijah then, and at 3 months pregnant, the nausea had only just faded. This year we were overjoyed to have our sweet baby boy with us!
Following last years tradition (well, it’s not really a tradition if we only did it once – but we are calling it that for now), we had biscuits (last year we had scones), various jams, quiche and fruit salad. It wash it all down we made Mimosas, or “Samosas” (wink wink, Zachary’s term for term), ie. orange juice mixed with champagne. Chara, the Mosby’s furry child, helped with the preparing of the biscuits. As you’ll see below, she has the powdered nose to prove it! We enjoyed peppermint and cinnamon Starbucks coffees, and lots of laughter as we watched “the kids” play on the ground. Elijah is not quite crawling yet, but he moves around in circles pretty quickly. Ciara found this interesting, so eventually they were lying on the floor playing together. There’s no mistaking that Golden Retrievers are the perfect dogs for families with small children. Elijah poked Chara in the eye, pulled her hair, and tried to chew her paw… none of it fazed Chara one single bit! Even though little man is not yet eating solids, he wore his “Baby’s First Christmas” bib that his Texas-grandma sent, and his green and white stripped Christmas jammies.
