I have been practicing Christmas songs for weeks and weeks with my grade 2 students!! After much hard work, hours of singing, dancing, and practicing, we finally performed our Christmas concerts for the parents last week. The performances were spread over two nights, a Thursday and a Friday.
In the classrooms for make up and dressing.
Backstage: Lots of excitement!
Grade 2C performed “Jingle Bells”, and “This Old Man”
Grade 2A – “Jingle Bell Rock”
“Dancing and Prancing in Jingle Bell Square”
“That’s the Jingle Bell Rock”
Grade 2A – “Found a Peanut”
“..It was rotten, it was rotten…”
“… ate it anyway!”
“…called the doctor”
“…went to heaven”
The front row “died” after eating a rotten peanut. Their performance was excellent.
They dropped over instantly!!! We tried it over and over in class, but they kept laughing! I see that the second student managed not to smile!! 🙂
The boys stared at the girls while they sang about playing a harp. It was very funny!
Grade 2E – “Knock knock Trick or Treat”
“I’m a Ghost”
“I’m a Witch”
“I’m a Monster”
“I’m a Ballerina”
My girls were so cute, and they did a beautiful little dance!
This was a terrific performance from my grade 2E class.
“The Twelve Day of Christmas”
Grade 2E – “The Twelve Days of Christmas”
“On the fifth day of Christmas, my true love sent to me…Five Golden Rings”
“… and a Partridge in a pear tree”
I was soooo proud of them. They performed so well!!
The end of the first concert (Thursday night).
After the show – My students were all hyped up after their performance!
They all wanted pictures with me. I felt very proud of them!!
hehe… The boys had more make up than some of the girls!
Jerry (a very awesome student)
I went to my grade 2 classrooms before the show. I helped them put on their make up, and get ready for the show. They looked so adorable in their matching outfits!
These are some of my Grade 2B students. I love them to bits!!
They were watching TV while we did their make up.
Grade 2F – Santa Claus.
This little girl is the cleverest in her class (Grade 2F).
I guess it shows, because while the rest were playing, she was reading!! 🙂
Before the show
My students caught me in the hallway.
They wanted to show me what Santa brought for them:
A red dragon stuffed toy.
Friday’s Christmas show begins.
My favorite class: Grade 2B.
Grade 2B opened the performance with a great dance for “B.I.N.G.O”
We practiced this dance for ages, and they did it wonderfully!!
I was so proud of them, they remembered all the moves I had taught them.
They sang loud, and they looked great!!
Grade 2B singing “Santa Claus is coming to Town”
“The wheels on the bus go round and round”
“… All through the town”
Grade 2D – “Deck the Halls”
Grade 2F – “Itsy Bitsy Spider”
Grade 2F – “Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer”
This was another fantastic performance!! It was a great end to the night!
“… All of the other reindeer used to laugh and call him names”
“…they never let poor Rudolph join in any reindeer games”
“…Then one foggy Christmas Eve, Santa came to say…”
“Rudolph, with your nose so bright, won’t you guide my sleigh tonight”
“Then all the reindeer loved him…”
There was a very funny moment when the reindeer were not listening to Santa’s instructions to change position, so he grabbed Rudolph by his shirt, and threw him into place. He was pretty rough, and it reminded me of how he would have done it in class when some of the students were not listening. He didn’t seem to be bothered that there was an entire auditorium of people watching the show.
Santa playing with Rudolph.
The end of Friday’s performance.
These performances were a wonderful success, and as a teacher, I could not have been more proud of my little angels. We practiced for many weeks, but had so much fun doing it. That is what made these performances even more enjoyable. I wish that I could do this with these kids every year!!
