Christmas has come and gone, and now we have our big vacation to look forward to. We called home, and chatted to our loved ones in South Africa and America, but still, I was quite sad. I get very sentimental around Christmas, and this year was no different.
To be honest, I’m a little relieved that it’s over…
I didn’t want to be in China yesterday!!
On Friday evening, our school took us out for dinner.
We ate and drank all we wanted at a buffet.
Justin enjoying some delicious meat.
Christmas dinner with our colleagues.
On Christmas Eve we met Josh, Zach and Heather at a restaurant across the road from our school.
This is a “hot pot” style restaurant. Each person is given their own pot of boiling, spicy, seafood stock.
There are large tables of unlimited vegetables, meat, and seafood to choose from.
Lots of leafy vegetables!!
Add whatever you want to your pot, and let it cook up! It reminds me of Fondu, however it’s healthier, and everyone gets their own pot!!!
There is a crab in each pot (for extra flavor).
The beer is unlimited too.
Pretty good deal for a total of 45 yuan each (R58 / US$7)
Someone from another table gave us this Baijiu. We had heard that this was similar to Korean Soju, however it is nothing like that, because it is way stronger, and it tastes AWFUL!!! We tried to mix it with some beer, and sprite, but the taste was too overpowering, so I gave it a miss!!
We had a good Christmas Eve!!! 🙂
We like hot pot!
We called Texas as soon as we woke up, so that we could open presents with them.
The gifts were much appreciated, and it made Christmas Day feel more real!
Thank you mom, dad and Nick!!
Today we got this delivery of delicious Christmas cookies!!
Thank you Zach and Heather!! 🙂
