Claire’s Baby Shower│A couple of weeks ago, I befriended an American girl who moved to Qingdao last year. Claire is married to a Chinese guy, and they are expecting their first child… well, TOMORROW! We aren’t really sure whether baby will be here by tomorrow, but that’s her due date! Claire and her husband met the three of us for lunch two weeks ago. While we were discussing life, marriage and babies, Claire mentioned that she had not had a baby shower. When she said, “I’m really sad about it, but I didn’t have baby shower”, I immediately thought… This girl needs a baby shower before her daughter is born! I thought back on how amazing the shower was that Heather threw for me, and then how happy Angie was when I threw her a shower. I knew that I wanted Claire to have a memorable baby shower too! Since she is new in town, she is also wanting to make some mommy-friends, so I invited a few new moms for her to meet.
Even though I have made a ton of decorations over the last two years, NONE of it has been pink! This was a whole new opportunity for me, and I was excited to make everything all pink and pretty. The only problem was that I had a week to prepare. Thankfully just about anything can be ordered online in China, but that meant waiting a few days for my decorations to arrive. While I waited, I got to making a few things by hand. I REALLY loved doing this, and I’m happy that Claire was so thrilled with the outcome of baby shower!
Each mom brought a little something along, so the food didn’t take too much time for me to prepare. Justin made the cupcakes, and I did the decorating. I am so blessed to have such a helpful husband… He really makes my life so pleasant with his ever-supportive attitude. I bought a cake, and made the little bunting to go on top of it.
