Date Night: Dinner @ The Canvas
To celebrate the wonderful day that we met, and the three years that have came from that day, Justin and I decided that we would go on a date. We didn’t have a definite plan in mind, but we wanted to include the beach since that is where we were on the weekend that we met. We may be living in a different country now, but it seemed like a good idea to head to similar surroundings.
I got ready for our date while Justin was finishing up at work. I have to admit, I was feeling excited and nervous at the same time. I have no idea why, but I had butterflies! Justin came home with a bunch of beautiful white lilies. He seems to know me better than I know myself. I was sitting on the ledge at our bedroom window so I saw him coming from the street level with the flowers. So cute!
We freshened up and then quickly made our way out to catch a cab because we were both starving. As we got to the street we realised that it was, in fact, quite chilly. It seems that the day had gone from clear to cloudy. With that (and your bellies rumbling) we decided to head straight downtown instead.
We managed to sneak into a shop and buy some new shoes for Justin – and a clock for our future apartment – before making it to the restaurant. I love that my husband enjoys shopping. Score! We have been to The Canvas twice before, with the Mosby’s, and we had enjoyed Mexican food both times. We would have tried a new place, but being as hungry and chilly as we were, we didn’t feel like looking around. The atmosphere at this place is just what we were looking for anyway ~ Cozy, low-lighting and relaxing music!
Justin kept staring at me, and telling me how pretty I looked. I found myself giggling like a school girl. He sure is good at making me blush!! We decided that date night would have to be a regular occurrence in Qingdao – And that the duty to plan the evening would alternate between us. This seems like a good tradition to start at the beginning of our marriage.
Hmmm.. Strawberry Margarita for HER, and a beer for HIM.
Burrito and salad for my Texan
BBQ Mushroom and Cheese Burger
After dinner the temperature had dropped even more so we headed straight home to make some popcorn, watch a movie, and cuddle in bed. That sounds like a great date all on it’s own!
Today I keep looking over at my beautiful lilies, and smiling. I miss Justin while he is at work, and I can’t wait to be working there with him. Even though we get to chat online as the day goes by, it will still be better when I can work too. Hopefully not too long until then!
