Eli’s Dedication Outfit. A couple of days ago the above picture popped up on Facebook as a memory from a year ago. I have to admit that it just blew my mind… and for numerous reasons. That little boy is so much bigger now. Those curls are gone, he has all of his teeth, and his face is thinner and so much more boyish that baby-looking. How can it only have been a year since we were in Texas. It feels like this last year has flown by, and yet it has felt so incredibly long. It is amazing how much can change in a year. We faced many heartaches in the year that just passed, but we face this new school year with renewed hope. We know that along with the struggles there have also been infinite blessings, and this little boy has definitely been one of the biggest blessings.
Eli’s Baby Dedication took place in Dallas, Texas, in the Esser backyard. We had some of our best friends (from China) come over and spend a few days with us, and while they were there we dedicated Eli to the Lord. Since it has been a year since that special day, I thought that I would share what Eli wore on that day.
This adorable all-white outfit was first worn by Justin at his Christening. Here is daddy, with his god-parents, on that day. As far as I know, Justin was about three months old so these pictures were probably taken in December of 1983.
Thirty two years later: Eli and his god-parents…
Look at those captivating eyes and that beautiful smile!
That sweet little dedication outfit is packed away in our closet in Texas… hopefully it will get worn by another son of ours, or maybe someday by a grandchild.
