Another find – Disney Hip Carrier. Justin stumbled across some pictures of Elijah and I on Taobao.com again yesterday. We don’t often get to see the pictures from the photoshoots that we take part in. Finding them online, especially by accident, is quite amusing! This is the Hip Carrier I have mentioned in previous posts. It fits snugly around mom’s lower waist area and baby sits on a firm “perch”. I’m not sure how to accurately describe it, but the little piece that baby/ toddler sits on is great. When they are wanting to run around one minute and need to be picked up the next, this carrier is just perfect. The minute you need to get going, you lift baby and you’re off. Much easier than the “baby on hip” scenario. Of course, they still need to be held in place so that they don’t fall off, but there is much more freedom to only use one hand. This would be great if you had a smaller baby in a stroller and an active toddler who wants to run about an explore. Eli enjoyed standing on the “perch” (I’m not sire how to refer to it) and being face-to-face to me, so that part is great for those adorable neck cuddles that they give!
This product is definitely suited for parenthood in China… Using public transport, visiting parks or apartment complex playgrounds, and climbing MANY stairs. Holding a little one (20-30lbs) while climbing up 6 flights of stairs is great exercise, but sometimes you just can’t be bothered. I love this hip carrier!
