Disney on Ice
Disney On Ice returned to South Africa this July with “The Wonderful World of Disney On Ice”! It seemed that returning to Cape Town during the school holidays meant lots that there were some indoor activities to check out. A couple to days before this show, we had gone to see the Peter Pan Musical. My step-mom, an avid Disney-fan, was excited to celebrate the magic and spirit of this extraordinary line-up of Disney stories with us. Once again she spoiled us with a wonderful family outing, and we were so grateful for her enthusiasm.
The Wonderful World of Disney On Ice consisted of, to name a few, Dory, Nemo and Marlin. They were joined by Anna and Elsa and the hilarious snowman, Olaf, from Disney’s Frozen. Disney princesses Rapunzel and Snow White create their own happily ever after, and there’s also Buzz and Woody, as well as Simba, Timon and Pumba. Bringing the whole show together are everyone’s all-time favourite Disney characters Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald, Goofy and the rest of the gang.
“From tiny tots to tweens and teens, from moms and dads to grandparents and extended family members, Disney On Ice is an annual enchanting experience that brings warmth to every winter school holidays.”
Look at the Queue!
We arrived early, just in case, and thankfully we did… Look at that long queue. On the plus side, it didn’t really matter since we had reserved seating. But it was good to get into Grand West early so that we could get the guys some popcorn and snacks.
Eli brought his lion along. I love this picture of him, so little, standing next to us in line. We are used to mad crazy crowded queues. Oh man – it really makes you appreciate quiet, patient non-pushy waiting. Ammmmaaazing!
The entire show was nothing short of spectacular. All four of us were entertained from the beginning until the end. We were singing, hopping around in our seats, and grinning from ear to ear! The acting, skating, and all of the effects were incredible. There were the floating lanterns from Frozen, and the show even culminated in a breathtaking snow scene.
We were all amazed!
We thoroughly enjoyed the Disney on Ice show, and we are so thankful that Yolanda treated us to this awesome experience. Eli has always loved live shows, but at this age, he appreciated it even more. I am sure that with each year he will enjoy this sort of shows more and more. It was a little too long for him though, and he started to get tired… but nothing stops our boys taking a nap, so that wasn’t a problem.
A spectacular show!
