On Saturday afternoon, with our morning classes behind us, we joined up with the Klug family and made our way to Huangdao (another part of Qingdao – about an hour away) for the Easter Tapas and Craft Party at the Hilton hotel. We were all looking forward to an Easter egg hunt, egg painting, and an unlimited supply of tasty finger foods and desserts. The traffic was terrible and some of us in the vehicle were getting really hot so we drove with the minivan door wide open. Yup, that’s how we roll in China – almost anything goes! The youngest three fell asleep, and while they rested, I painted Ella and my nails. It was quite bumpy at times, so not too bad of a job considering the conditions. When we arrived in Huangdao, we entered the amazing Hilton hotel and the festivities began! The kids painted Easter eggs and then we made our way to the lobby restaurant area to feast on all the cheese, meat, chocolate, cake, and candy that we could eat. When it comes to buffets, I almost always prefer just these things, so for me, this was a pretty great spread of food. Lots of bread, cheese and fried finger foods, and then sides of chocolate and cake on the same plate. It doesn’t take much to make me happy! It feels like we ate for hours.
