At roughly month 6 or 7, I mentioned that I was not too sure how much longer I could keep doing these monthly shoots. It’s not that I haven’t loved them, but the lighting in our apartment is really not that great and every month this little man gets faster and more adventurous. I am therefore really thankful that I have made it to 11 months and, of course, he will definitely have the special one year shoot. I wanted to do a year of monthly photos and I’m almost there. I don’t consider this an actual photoshoot since I was just following him around with the camera, but hey at 11 months you have to take what you can get with an active little monkey. He is not interested in sitting still and posing for mommy anymore.
On a side note: I am fully aware that baby number two won’t get as much photographic coverage during his/ her first year, but that is why I really wanted to make the most of this time with only one baby. I couldn’t get Eli to sit still for even one photo, but as you will see below, these pictures really show his personality. He is a wonderful mix of content and playful. If you chase him, he hides his face and then peeks to see if you are still coming after him. He is too cute for words, and an absolute blessing in our lives!
Here is Elijah James at 11 months old…
(That Blue Bat Monster is Eli’s favourite toy and he carries it all over the house with him. At night he sleeps with it in his crib. In the morning, when he calls for daddy to come get him, he is still holding it. They toy’s name is “Ott” and Eli got in on our Emirates flight from Cape Town to Dubai)
There it is – he’s looking back to see if I’m still coming after him. My mother-in-law says that Justin used to do the same thing when he was about the same age. What a cutie!
