Fall Soup Party 2017
It’s that time of year again – Soup, mulled wine, cookies, hot chocolate, Christmas music, lights, and soooo many warm fuzzy feelings. We certainly aren’t big fans of winter, but we do very much enjoy the festivities of this time of the year.
If you’ve been following our blog for a few years, you would have seen the Fall Soup Party that we hosted in 2015. Lats year, and this year, it has been at Bethany’s house. Check out last year’s soup party here: Fall Soup Party 2016.
It’s a simple and really fun idea: Everyone brings a soup to share (or a side dish, if soup-making isn’t a strong point). We line all the soups up, and try a tiny taster cup of each soup. Basically, it is like soup tapas! I love how the little cups look on the plate. The Plate above is Justin’s, of course, because mine didn’t have any noodles or bread. Justin has been doing amazing on the gluten-free journey, but he decided to break for the evening. We listed all the soups on a chalkboard, and numbered each little cup. While people taste the soups, they can easily check their cup numbers and the board to remember which soup they love the most. At the end of the meal everyone casts a vote for the winning soup.
Look at all those amazing soups…
There were three prizes – 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. It is always so much fun trying each soup, and then going back for more. Most people switch to a bowl on their second round, and then attack the soups that they liked most.
There was a really great selection of soups! In fact, there wasn’t a soup I didn’t like. Sweet Bethany even kept some of her soup out, before she added the noodles, for us gluten-free folks.
Cheesy Chicken Bacon Mushroom Soup
Every year I gravitate towards making Pumpkin Soup, and it is always really tasty! This year I wanted to try something different. I looked up ket0-friendly soups and came across a creamy delicious option that sounds perfect!

It was incredibly easy to make, and we will definitely be having this again before winter is over.
What are you Thankful for?
In keeping with the Thanksgiving-theme, we all wrote down what we were thankful for on little colored leaves that my awesome, super-duper helpful husband cut out. We pinned them to a garland for extra decoration. I am thankful for SO MUCH this year.
I am especially thankful for new blossoming friendships.
Like this girl, Sarrah. She is just too sweet for words.
The Winning Soup
After the votes were tallied, the winning soups were announce. My soup came in first, and I was so honored! I had never made this soup before, and it was completely flour, sugar and grain-free, so I was quite impressed that I won.
My prize was a Starbucks voucher. YESSSS! Awesomeness!
A great night of fellowship, love and good food.
