Me and my “Cuzsters”
(Sisters/ Cousins = Cuzsters)
The weather in Utah is definitely more hike-worthy than the heat we have been experiencing in Texas! When Justin and I first arrived in Park City, we went on a late afternoon/ sunset hike. You can view that blog post here. Back then, the trees had not changed color yet, but after two weeks of being there the shades of the mountain-side had change almost daily. I had gone hiking in-between these beautiful colors, but I was eager to show my aunt and cousins, so we made a family event of it.
I am currently training for a marathon, and I needed to get a run in on this day, so while the others walked I ran ahead of them. When I got too far ahead of them, I would turn around and run back to them. This way I got to get some good pictures too.
Running uphill is MUCH HARDER so this was a good workout for me.
*Look at me – I’m brave enough to wear a little running top now!*
Melissa and Aunty Sue battle the warm weather, uphill walk, AND the higher altitude.
I really couldn’t get enough of these gorgeous autumn colors. The red, orange and yellow tones blend together beautifully!! It was breathtaking!
Drew strapped Charles to his chest. At only 2 weeks only, this was the little guy’s first hike.
Even Gus came with for the family hike. He’s getting old, but he’s still a champion!
Drew chats to me while Maxine, Sue and Mel attempt to catch up.
I think that Drew was itching to run with me, but he wanted to carry Charles as well.
My 3 awesome ladies!! 🙂
The clouds really completed the spectacular view! As I have mentioned before, I love taking pictures when there is some cloud cover. The contrast between the red, orange, yellow, brown and green looked amazing underneath the grey, white and blue sky.
I had to hang my camera in a tree for this shot, but it was worth it. Look at those red leaves behind me! When I turned this corner I literally stopped to take it all in. I’m a sucker for these autumn colors.
… And I felt AMAZING!
I had a few minutes to relax at the top and catch my breath. I made a little video for Justin and then took in the 360 degree view. It was so peaceful up there.
Next to the top of the hill was Drew carrying Charles. This little guy is going to be a superstar!
He was all sweaty against daddy’s chest, but he seemed to be fast asleep, so we knew he was happy.
Mel and I drank water and took in some sunshine.
Maxine carried Charles downhill with Melissa by her side. Drew and I decided to run down, and this was a real adrenaline rush!!! It felt like I was a character in a TV game. I was hoping, jumping and sprinting… All the while I prayed that I didn’t fall or trip. One wrong move would lead to injury and then I would not be able to take part in the marathon later this year!
Thankfully, I made it down to the house in one piece!
Waiting at home…
