Family Run: The Clouds Roll In
Things have been busy around here – geez, that line is getting old! – so I’m behind on these posts. I think this run took place about 2-3 weeks ago! OOPS!! Although I do want to keep telling travel stories, I love to keep up with the current happenings, and this is definitely one of that things that has been happening lately. Long runs by the sea, then a picnic-style dinner. On this particular evening, the weather turned and the clouds rolled in. Since Justin and I had been running, we were hot, but once we cooled down we realized it really wasn’t that warm!
Eli enjoyed some time in the sand, while we prepared our food for dinner. Although we thought we would sit here for quite some time, it wasn’t long after dinner that we packed up. Little man was looking a little blue – of course, he didn’t care, and happily kept on playing. Aren’t kids funny like that?! The cold doesn’t seem to bother them if they are having a good time!
What’s for Dinner?
A light dinner is definitely needed when you are running, eating and then running again. Our picnic: Korean kimbap rolls (almost like sushi, but without the raw fish), mini sheets of dried seaweed, fresh sesame seed leaves, boiled eggs, baby cucumbers, almonds, radish, and fried potatoes snacks.
I (Catherine) love love love making little wraps. Lettuce, sesame seed leaves, and seaweed all make amazing wrap alternatives if you are trying to avoid normal corn/ flour wraps. The more I can put in a wrap, the better. The flavor mix is just delicious!
We hadn’t picnicked in this place before, so it was a nice change of scenery. Since we had a little extra energy, we ran further along the coastline. Eli is in the “play with me” stage, and it is SO ADORABLE. He still isn’t very into talking, so he will tug at one of us to go on join him. Isn’t he cute? Who could say no to this face…
The clouds rolled in really quickly, and it went from cool to super chilly in a matter of thirty minutes. Fortunately, we had finished our dinner and Eli had got some good play-time in. We wrapped him up and covered him a blanket, and then started our run home.
This Mountain Buggy stroller (an Australian band) has always been a huge blessing to us. We bought it from a family that was leaving Qingdao, three years ago, and we have NEVER regretted this choice. It is the most amazing stroller I have ever tried! The cover comes right down around the sides of the seat, and it blocks out a lot of wind. When he sleeps it also blocks out a fair amount of light. We LOVE it. If we had two kids, we would definitely consider getting the double stroller in this brand. It is perfect!
