On the final Sunday of our (wedding) vacation in Cape Town, we invited anyone who could make it to meet us at The Blue Peter in Blouberg. We had been here a few times during our vacation – for running, relaxing, and my birthday celebration – and it seemed like the perfect spot to say our goodbyes. A beautiful sunset – With the perfect view of the ocean and Table Mountain.
Little Miss Tayla
We had hoped to experience the same beautiful weather on this occasion, but as we drove towards Blouberg, a thick mist came over and we could barely see the ocean as we drove along the coastal road.
We had come to do relax in the sunlight…
But after about an hour we were all shivering and ready to move inside.
We were surprised to see how many people did not mind the mist and cold. I ended up switched over to Irish Coffees in an attempt to not freeze. As soon as a big table opened inside, we all jumped at the opportunity to move to where there was warmth.
Bronwyn sandwiched between two Catherines
Once we were inside, we were able to relax and enjoy each other’s company more. We ordered some meat baskets, pizzas, and toasted sandwiches to snack on as we enjoyed our drinks.

Bronwyn showing off her dirty feet
We were able to see so many old friends during our visit to Cape Town. Even my friends, Bronwyn and Rudi (FYI – that is not Rudi in the picture above), who I moved to London with about 10 years ago. We had not see each other in about six years, so this was a wonderful reunion!
THIS is Rudi and Bronwyn,

Clinton, Catherine, and Tayla were there too, and so was my wonderful friend Tarrin.
Tarrin inspired us all by darting off to gym after spending the afternoon socialising with us.
She is an amazing woman, and currently training for the IFBB Battle of the Titans Beach Bikini Division.
Clinton, Justin, Claiborne
The boys showing some “love” SA style, although Justin doesn’t seem too comfortable with what is happening here. At the table behind them was a group of Bronwyn’s friends. She was set to leave Cape Town the day before us, so she asked if she could invite her friends to join for the Farewell Drinks too. The more the merrier!
Maria with us at my birthday celebration
I didn’t get photos of everyone, but my good old friend, Maria was there too. She drove all the way from Wellington with her boyfriend, Newton, and sister, Linda. Even though most of us were unimpressed by the misty cold weather, they were happy to be at the seaside and loving every minute of it. If you don’t know South Africa, Wellington is quite far inland so they don’t have any coastline. It is pretty much boiling there throughout the whole summer (aka Texas heat), so the mist was a nice break in that regard too.
Thank you for coming all the way to to Blue Peter to say goodbye to us!!!
You guys are awesome!!
Although we didn’t get the sunset we wanted, we got to say goodbye to some special people and that made it worth it. How could we be upset anyway, we had experienced tons of breathtaking oceanside sunsets. In fact, we had been abundantly blessed with beauty during our stay in Cape Town.
We want to thank all of those who came to say goodbye to us.
It really meant a lot to us to see you guys one more time.
Thank you so much!
