Finally, He’s Wearing Them!
This little guy has very light eyes – as I am sure all of you have noticed – and he is very sensitive to sunlight. When we step outside he immediately covers his eyes to shield them from the bright light. He is always squinting his eyes when we are on a beach or out in the sun, but since about 1 years old he absolutely refuses to wear a hat or sunglasses. We have struggled with him, trying to show him how both of these items will benefit him – but for so long it was all in vain!
About two months ago, Eli found some dress up/ playtime glasses and put them on his face. He wore them upside down and slightly off-center. When we tried to correct them and rest them properly on his ears, he would adjust them again… back off-center. He started wearing these star-shaped lenses around he house, and whenever he did, he also wore the biggest cheesiest grin that you have ever seen. You might have seen us laughing about this in this Youtube video: CLICK HERE! >> In that video he was trying to get us to wear the glasses, and in the process, he was poking our eyes out, and insisting on the glasses being worn upside down!
That same weekend we went out walking and the skies were white and very bright, so we took a pair of his sunglasses with. Our hope is that he will start wearing them outdoors before our trip in January… it is super sunny where we are going! When we got outside and put the glasses on, he KEPT THEM ON… we were so happy, but tried not to make a big deal (because then he might take them off). We went to grab a coffee at Starbucks, and he sat in his stroller looking like the coolest thing EVER!!
Look at him in the above image – Too cool!
Man, I love this kid! He is just hilarious. He can sometimes be super serious and introverted… But then other times, he is so open and comical. He reminds me a lot of myself, haha. Quiet and withdrawn, but also crazy funny and full of silliness (when you really get to know him).
