On Saturday morning we joined some friends on the beach not too far from where we live. We were there to celebrate our with our friend, Jessica, and her son. The little man, Marrick, turned three this past week, so we were meeting to have a birthday picnic with all of his Chinese school buddies. There were a few other South Africans there, and it was nice to be surrounded by an accent that I know all to well. This was our first visit to the beach with our son, and also his first time at a birthday party. We are loving all of these “firsts” that we get to have with Elijah. It’s so exciting.. especially knowing that for years we will get to experience all of these firsts with him, as we watch him grow and learn. Being a parent is amazing. We are so thankful that we have been blessed with the opportunity to raise our own adorable little human being.
We took Eli’s stroller with to the beach so that he could sleep in it, and have shade if the sun was out. Fortunately it was an overcast day, so there was no direct sunlight. I don’t think that any of us would have lasted more than a couple of hours in the humidity and heat that we have been experiencing in Qingdao lately. It was a blessing to have received the weather that we did. It was perfect!
Another first for our little man
We are looking forward to more beach days during this summer vacation. It might be a bit too hot for the next month, so we will aim to do some late afternoon strolls until Autumn. Thank you to Jessica and her family for inviting us to share in the birthday celebration!
