OPBC ~ Oceana Power Boat Club
Granger Bay, Cape Town, South Africa
This was my first hot Christmas, so we decided it would be a great idea to go for a boat ride and enjoy Christmas Eve in a way that I had never done before. Even before I arrived in Cape Town, Catherine’s Father, Moose, wanted to take us out of the boat, and this was the first day that we were all free to go out on the boat. I thought it would be a pretty cool idea to hit the 7 seas for the day. Both Catherine’s brothers came along as well.
Moose is member of the Oceana Power Boat Club in Cape Town, South Africa. We headed to the boat club to put the boat in the water.
Above, Richard was driving, Moose was on the boat, and David and I were in charge of unhooking the boat from the trailer once it was in the water.
Taking orders from Moose.
David had a pretty good seat. Nice sunglasses David!!
Catherine and I sat on the front of the boat. This proved to be the bumpiest seat in the house!
This is Cape Town Stadium from the ocean. Behind the stadium is Signal Hill.
The mind of a fisherman.
Moose was trying to figure out a good place that Richard could throw a line in.
David was in charge of dropping the anchor. I don’t have much experience on a boat, so it was a treat for me to just watch everybody doing their jobs.
Moose and David untangle the anchor.
Cat and I were enjoying the ride at the front of the boat. We brought a blanket for her in case she got cold (she always does).
My little Miss lay out on the front of the boat while us guys did the fishing.
The water was really choppy. The boat was bouncing around for a bit as we were coming back to shore. David was hanging out on the side, when a big wave splashed him pretty good. Notice how Moose is on the phone, and totally calm but David is about to fall off the side of the boat!
“WHOA!!! It got me a little wet.” “DAMN, now I am soaked!!!”
Ahead of us is the coastline area called Sea Point.
The ride back was really “bouncy”, but it was fun. Definitely the best time I have ever had on a boat. I was happy after the day out on the ocean with the Morris boys and my lady. Catherine and I had to get back to the house to shower and change as we had plans for dinner.
Thanks for the boat ride Moose!
We are looking forward to another trip when we visit!
