The Flip Flops Are Out!
We love love love our little family dates, but the truth is, we just don’t want to get outside as much in the colder months. For this outing, we got to wear our flip flops and summer clothes, and we were STILL pretty hot. Craving a bit of ocean-view, we walked along the coast. I swear, we could probably walk for DAYS… and once Eli falls asleep, we basically have no reason to stop. A couple of hours, two convenience stores, and numerous distractions, later, we ended up at the restaurant and cafe area surrounding Polar Ocean World.
Earlier today I did a post called, “He Stood Still!”
As amazed as I was that he stood still for photos that day, I doubted that he would do it again. Much to my surprise, he did it once more on this family date. I directed Eli to stand amongst the trees, and look at me, and HE DID! He smiled for the camera, and remained still while I took the photos. There is renewed hope that he will let me take some cute 3 year old pictures next month. Ummmm… SUPER excited Mama!!
Always a toy in his hand, sometimes two!
Out for the day, with us, were Dinosaur, also known as “Dee”, and Lion.
*Look at that lip! It is healing well…
Thank you for the sweet messages checking in on Eli!*
We stopped at this corner restaurant to drink a cold beer and rest for a little while. Although we had contemplated eating, nothing on the menu looked super tempting, so we decided to go home and eat. The waitress offered us “brown beer, yellow beer, or red beer”. Huh?
Turns out that there is a Tsingtao Rose, and it is super yummy. hmmmm, fruity and delicious! I have no idea how we live in the city that makes this beer, and we have never seen it in any shopping mall, convenience store or restaurant.
When we left, Eli was still asleep, but we were really wanting to get home… so we did what we hate to do, we woke him! haha.
The boy loves sleep, and we love it when he gets his sleep. While Justin used Uber to get us a car, I slowly started to open Eli’s stroller cover to let light in. All of my slow-waking tactics were in vain though, because it was such a busy day that we couldn’t find a single driver to pick us up.
Eventually we had to stand by the side of the road, and hail a cab. Poor Eli wasn’t too impressed that I had woken him, and my arms weren’t too impressed about holding him while we waited for a taxi. You know summer is coming when there aren’t enough cars on the road. Thanks to the poor design of the buses here, we can’t get our stroller onto the routes that run along the coast. And we have the COMPACT jogger version of our stroller. There is a pole in the middle of the back door, and a narrow entrance at the front of the bus.
It’s is crazy that summer is almost here. We have had a couple of rainy days since this family date, but overall it is getting warmer and warmer. It is definitely already humid inside out apartment. Summer is coming!
