Germany │ European Road Trip Country #12
Germany is a country rich in natural beauty. Between the North Sea and Baltic coasts in the north and the peaks of the Alps in the south lie extremely diverse landscapes, with everything from river and lakeland scenery, hills and densely wooded regions to agricultural and industrial cities. The people of Germany love nothing more than getting together and celebrating. They do so a very traditional style during carnival season, at wine festivals, at the Oktoberfest and other beer festivals. It is not hard to imagine why since they have plenty of world-famous foods and fine wines.
We were sad to leave the gorgeous city of Cesky Krumlov, but also excited to dig into country number 12. Kind family members (Justin’s cousin’s in-laws) were ready and waiting for us, in a small city, a couple of hours above Munich. All the more reason to drive into Germany smiling! We were about 70% into our two month road trip, and we had only stayed with friends once, so it was about time for another “home” stop.
You know I love Lonely Planet‘s summaries of every country, and city, so here is what they said about this breathtaking European wonder…
“Prepare for a roller coaster of feasts, treats and temptations as you take in Germany’s soul-stirring scenery, spirit-lifting culture, big-city beauties, romantic palaces and half-timbered towns.”
