Last week, Justin had to take a two day trip up to Beijing to get his fingerprints done for his visa renewal. Yes, oddly enough, even getting something as simple as your fingerprints done necessitates a 5 hour train ride to Beijing in order to get them. Things are always a little more complicated when you live in China! I won’t even go into how much it cost to have them done. If you are interested, you can read more about it in a post that Justin did here. I guess it amazes us so much since this process is free, very simple, and done at any police station in South Africa… and South Korea… and the States. I won’t go on!
Even though he was only gone for one night, I missed him so much and I was thrilled when he came through the door on Wednesday night! This was the first time that we were separated since finding out that we were expecting a baby, so Justin took this as an opportunity to get mommy and baby a gift while he was away. I really didn’t expect anything, so I was complete surprised by his kind gesture.
Baby got a cute little penguin to match ours – It is lighter and smaller so it looks like the baby. I squealed of excitement when he gave me (baby) this. What a great idea!
For his wife, Justin bought a beautiful leather bound journal with brass snap-buttons. I haven’t yet decided what I will use this journal for, but I will make it something good. Any suggestions?
Awesome, isn’t it?!
Getting gifts when you least expect it is the really amazing. Not that I usually expect it, haha – but I’m sure that you know what I mean. Somehow it makes the gifts even sweeter! What a lovely surprise from my darling husband!
Thank you Justin!!!
