We love these narrow little streets that make up Haad Rin.
In anticipation of the monthly Full Moon parties, many stores sell brightly coloured shirts, shorts, and swimwear. These are worn on the night of the full moon party, or any other day that you might feel like wearing them. In fact, the brighter the better on this island! Florescent face and body paint are sold on practically every street corner too!
Scooters and motorbikes outside a 7 Eleven
With the majority of tourists hiring a scooter of motorbike to get around this island, it is not surprising that we saw many people with scars or bandages on their arms and legs. The locals call it the “Pharang (white tourist) tattoo”! Although it would have been an easy – and cheap – way to get around, we didn’t want to take this risk with me being five months pregnant.
We loved this area of Koh Phangan so much – especially because of how much it surprised us. Although it is famous for crazy beach parties, it really has so much more to offer. Haad Rin is so much nicer than the overly-modernized streets that are taking over many of the other islands that we have visited. Haad Rin Nai is prefect for peaceful nights, and just a short walk away is Haad Rin Nok, perfect for a night out with friends!
