Jamaica Me Crazy, Woodstock
On the tip of Africa, in the heartland of Woodstock, Cape Town, you will find an island of Caribbean delight… JAMAICA ME CRAZY! This is the perfect environment to chill with friends and family, while enjoying great good and drinks… “No Problem!”
Love the Life You Live
Shortly after we arrived in South Africa, Clinton and Catherine took us to Jamaica Me Crazy for pizza and cocktails. If you missed that blog post, click on the link above and have a look. We had a really great time, and therefore vowed to return to this place at least one more time before we parted ways.
The cocktail HAPPY HOURS at Jamaica Me Crazy are not to be missed!! A select range of cocktails for only R18… such as the Green Iguana, Volcano and the Strawberry Daiquiri. Catherine and I tried a number of them and they were all delicious. The boys also got to partake in some drink specials because the rugby was on… R20 for draught beers.
We sat upstairs on the balcony, and although it was a bit chilly we had sweeping views of the bay and the mountain. On fine warm days this is an ideal spot to sit and soak in some sun while sipping delicious tropical cocktails. For those we want to observe the vibrant buzz of the neighborhood there is a veranda where one can sit and take in the unique sights and sounds of the famous Roodebloem Road.
Clinton and I absolutely love smoking hookah! Really. We love it. That may even be an understatement! So, even though this restaurant is over 20 minutes from the house, we decided it was worth the trip once we saw another patron light up their hookah on the upstairs balcony. The ladies stayed and drank cocktails while the guys went to pick up the hookah for the house. We never regretted this decision for a second!
David, my little brother (well, bigger than me, but still, my youngest brother) came to join us for a couple drinks at Jamaica Me Crazy. He has a swamped social life, so he left after a couple of hours and met up with some of his friends.
German Chocolate Cake Shots
We love these two!
I love this guy!
Green Iguanas and shooters
*Nice big smile Clinton – OOhhh Yeah!!!*
“One Love, One Heart,
Let’s Get Together and Feel Alright”
We tried some new beers – Above, Naked Mexican
For dinner we all enjoyed beef burgers, which were really tasty!
When we got talking about us leaving South Africa and heading back to Asia, things started to get sad so we decided to liven up the mood a little with some colourful shooters. These green, yellow and red shots are called Bob Marleys.
Jonny Gold Weiss Beer
After dinner we decided to head to the V&A Waterfront to see what was happening at Mitchell’s and Ferryman’s. These two pubs are located side-by-side and they often offer some form of live entertainment. On this evening, they had a pretty good live band so we settled at a table and enjoyed the atmosphere. We also ordered more food. Because apparently a full burger meal was not enough for any of us. Tisk tisk!
It’s kind of a tradition for us to sing along to songs together in Clinton’s car. Ordinarily, if we all go somewhere in one car, Tayla sits at the back between Justin and I, so we both sing into her ears. She giggles and tries to push us away, but we know she loves it because as she giggles she starts singing too. This is a fun memory that we won’t forget any time soon. On this Saturday evening, Tayla was at grandma’s house so Justin and I sang to each other, and then along with Clinton and Catherine.
What a blessing to have amazing friends!
