Halloween 2016│VLOG. In this edition of “Life with The Essers”, we show you our Halloween weekend, October 29th-30th. Since it was such a brutally cold weekend, we cut our plans in half, but we still had a great time. On Saturday we took Eli trick-or-treating for the first time, stopping off at various foreigner apartments. In the days leading up to Halloween, those wanting to hand out candy were added to a list. The list was finalized and sent out on Saturday afternoon. This made it easy for us to avoid knocking on Chinese doors… oh the confusion that would follow that!! Trick-or-treating sure is tough over here, where apartments are often on the 4th, 5th, or even the 6th floor. In China, older buildings up to 6 floors have no elevator. Just like the one that we live in!
Sunday we joined the QISS (an international school in Qingdao) students and teachers for a 5km fun run. We met on the school campus and did five loops around it, all dressed in our Halloween outfits. It was a lot of fun. Afterwards there were hot dogs and plenty of other delicious foods.
