Happy Thanksgiving 2016 │It still completely blows my mind that it is already Thanksgiving. WOW! Where did the year go? The coldest temperatures have set in – this morning it is an icy -6ºC in Qingdao – so Eli and I are still in bed! It is 8am but we just don’t want to face the day if it involves wearing 3 layers of clothing just to go to the kitchen. We thought that the apartment had warmed up, but there were a couple of slightly warmer days – so we were misled. It is definitely going to be a bitterly cold winter!
Poor Justin has to work today, so to be honest, it doesn’t feel like any sort of special day over here! We are lucky that he get Christmas off, so we don’t expect the school to give the teachers Thanksgiving off too. They do, however, have a new principal, and she is very kind. For lunch today, the teachers are being treated to a Thanksgiving lunch (even though only two of them are American, haha). I tried to get Justin to make a “vlog day” out of it, but he feels too shy. I’m sure that most of you can’t tell from the videos, but he often feels really shy/ awkward. Eventually he won’t – but for now he still does.
We will be joining some friends on Saturday for a Thanksgiving celebration. We have ordered a turkey and all the sides from one of the International hotels here in Qingdao. That will actually be my first real meal in 32 days, since tomorrow I break my fast but only with some soup/ mashed veggies. Now there’s something to be thankful for!
We want to wish all of our American family and friends a very HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
We wish that we could be over there with you. We are thankful for all of you in our lives!
