This iPhone game, created by Ellen DeGeneres, has already provided the four of us with plenty of laughs over the past couple of weeks. We have played it at home, in the back of cabs, at restaurants, and at bars. It never ceases to amuse us!
What is it all about?
On Ellen DeGeneres’s talk show, she plays a game with celebrity guests where she holds up a card to her forehead showing a word or name. The guest then gives clues to Ellen to help her guess the word. I have, in fact, played this game with my classes during free time. It’s a well-known game that many have played among friends. Ellen went one step further and turned it into an iPhone game.
The game is called “Head’s Up!” – You pick a category like the 80’s, animals, impersonations, or music. Then you hold the iPhone up to your forehead with the screen showing the word, and your friends shout (or act out) clues to the word. After guessing correctly, you put the phone face down and hand it to the player who gets the word. The players pass the phone around, guessing as many words as they can until the time runs out. We play a version where the same person guessed for an entire round, which is roughly 60 seconds. The front-facing camera on the iPhone is recording a video of the whole game session. Players can save the video, share it on Facebook, or even send it to Ellen. Watching the excitement on our faces as we try to explain our clues is priceless!
Great game – Check it out!!
The game costs $0.99 and comes with 8 different categories
(you can add more but those will cost a little extra).
