During this past week, we decided to introduce Elijah to some solid foods. It has been a slow start, and that works our perfectly fine for us. He mostly just played with the food, moving it around the tray with his fingers. He picked it up, looked at it, licked it.. and then rubbed it all over his face. It was a huge mess, and quite amusing to watch. So far, our feeding journey with Elijah has been simple and natural. We’d like to try our best to keep it that way.
We will be following a Baby-led weaning approach, which means that we won’t be using any purees or baby spoons. We will simply let Elijah feed himself, and he will eat the same foods that we do. He has started with sweet potato and then three days later he had some papaya. Every three days or so, we will allow him to try out a new food. We boiled a little bit of sweet potato, made sure it was super soft, and then put it on the table in front of him. We let him do the rest.
He even took the serving spoon from us so that he could play with that.
