Elijah and I got called in for another modelling job last week. This time for a baby furniture company. I’m starting to forget how many jobs we have done, so I’ll try to refer to them by what we model instead of numbering them. We were told that Elijah would be posing with some high chairs, so let’s just call this “the high chair job”. This was a hot and tiring day, but we made it through and daddy was there so that made everything a little easier to deal with. As usual, Elijah received a lot of attention, but unfortunately the photographers were a little behind on schedule and we ended up having to wait for a long time to begin. No fans, no decent toilet facilities, and no food. You’d think that we would learn to take food with us (and not to drink anything, haha) but each of these modelling opportunities is different from the next, so we never really know what to expect.
It was so good to have Justin there. The outside temperature was high and we were in some sort of warehouse with no air-conditioners or fans. We finally found a carpet and let Elijah sit on the floor to play. It was too hot to hold him, and he likes to be free.
Elijah devoured all of his crackers and snacks and was still hungry so I had to go and find an area to feed him. I have no idea how people manage if they don’t breastfeed – those must be some extremely prepared supermoms. We don’t have to think about much when it comes to taking Eli out of the house, but when we run out of fruit and crackers, and we can’t find a store, I always end up having to nurse him in some weird location. A month ago I fed him behind a shower door in a showroom while we were out buying paint. No one ever bothers me, but still, this isn’t a first world country with conveniently located breastfeeding rooms. Despite the challenges, things went relatively smoothly.
There were some young kids there doing a photoshoot with children’s bedroom furniture. They were told to sit naturally and draw a picture while the photographer worked around them. One of the kids drew this picture of Elijah… (Curly hair, a cheerful smile with his front teeth sticking out, and those amazing big blue eyes)
We just received some of the photos that the photographer took, so we will try to do a post with those a bit later today. We are pleased that we got to finally do this together. Justin always hears about our model job experiences but now he can say that he has been with us to one. Actually, he’s been asked to join us in a couple of these shoots but it’s normally during the week so he can’t. Pity!
