Interlaken Sunset│Seerestaurant Beatenbucht. Over the last week, you have traveled with us from the our Stay in a Swiss Chalet on the Thundersee Lake all the way up to the summit of Schilthorn. We drove to Lauterbrunnen, where we saw the Staubbach Falls. A cable car took us from Lauterbrunnen to Grütschalp, and then a scenic train ride ended us up in the care-less village of Mürren. We walked around, and stopped for lunch in this picturesque village, before taking a second cable car from Mürren to Birg. In Birg we paused our upward journey in order to check out the Birg Skyline and Thrill Walk. A final cable car ride up took us to Schilthorn. It was there where we got the most incredible view of Jungfrau and the surrounding Bernese Alps.
To end our spectacular day, we decided to look for a nice spot to sit around one of the two lake that surround Interlaken. If we found a place where we could view the sunset AND get some food… Even better. We drove for some time, and then started to wonder if we should just give up and head back to the Chalet in Leissigen. Just then we drove by a restaurant. It had an unobstructed view of the lake, so we quickly pulled off the road, parked our car, and went inside. Seerestaurant Beatenbucht is located right next to the waters of Lake Thun. It has a spacious terrace, and big windows offering breathtaking views onto the lake and the mountains. This restaurant would be a perfect spot – no matter the weather, nor the time of year!
We settled at a table on the terrace and order some food for dinner. Food-envy struck when the table next to us got their desserts, so we made sure to order some ice cream as well. We were sitting in the sun, enjoying the last of the late afternoon sunshine. It was one of those “LIFE IS INCREDIBLE” moments.
These were not your average ice cream sundaes.
Ice floating in Baileys and topped with a wafer stick… Yes please!
Eli’s toys travel all over the world with us. This little Rhino came from Africa, traveled to China, and has therefore now been to 19 countries!
When we were done eating, we let Elijah roam around a little bit. As he often does, he wondered towards the kitchen. Maybe he wants to be a chef like his Uncle Richard. Or maybe he just loves to charm the ladies in the kitchen. He always does a good job of that!
I couldn’t help imagining how amazing the view must have been for these paddle-boarders on the lake…
When we left the restaurant, the sunset was at its most spectacular so we walked to an opening nearby the restaurant to continue watching the sun go down. Eli was in his carseat and busy playing with the iPad (it had been ALL DAY, so he was thrilled to be back in his happy place) so we got out of the car and spent a few romantic moments “alone”. Even though little man was a few feet away from us, but felt like we were alone on a date at the lake, watching the sun go down.
This was one of those days that takes your breath away…
OVER AND OVER AND OVER AGAIN!
