Juice Fast #2: Day 10. I really wanted to do a longish juice fast – at least 15 days – but alas, on the afternoon of day 9 my juicer decided that it was done making juices. We really loved this juicer, but I only found out – after choosing it – that the motor’s on this model often burn out relatively easily. Many customers complained that, after replacement, even their second and third machines did the same thing. Knowing this, we have been extremely careful with the juicer. It is said to be able to juice whole fruits and vegetables, but we never tried to push it to this capacity since we had read that many folks ended up with a smoking juicer after a couple months. We weren’t using this juicer to the capacity which it is apparently made for, and it still died. Needless to say, this was a huge bummer!
So despite being without a juicer on day 10, I had made enough juice to get me through day 9 and into day 10. Thankfully I was able to get through the final day on a couple of left over juices, and lots of herbal teas. I like round numbers, so I couldn’t bare to stop on day 9. It is a pity that our juicer broke because I really did feel like I wanted to go a little longer, but I’m happy with my accomplishment. Ten days of juice fasting is still a good period of detoxification, and fortunately I went through a detoxification stage on day 8 and felt better by day 9. Apparently, stopping in the midst of a big detoxification-phase is not good for your body.
I will do a post with my final thoughts and a round up of the effects from the juice fast in the coming week.
Thank you for the support, and for following along with my juice fast.
I love the stories that I have been sent of others were have been inspired to start juicing and incorporating more fresh fruits and vegetables into their diets. I have received quite a few requests for posts on my favorite juices, so I will be sure to post a few of those recipes. Together we can get fit and healthy in 2016!
