This was a relatively pleasant day for us. We both had enough energy, no headaches nor pains, and Justin’s even managed to play basketball for an hour with the high school students. We are repeating all the juice recipes from the beginning, so you can refer to day 1 to see what we drank today. After the excessive detoxification effects during the weekend, we followed the advice that we had found, and reduced our juice intake today. At the same time, we increased our water consumption. Whether or not this was the reason that we felt okay today, I do not know.
Justin felt physically good today, but a little mentally tired. I was pretty much the same – good energy, but no bouncing off the walls or dancing around. We drank day 2’s juices again today (except for the sweet ‘second snack’ drink).
To curb the desire for warm savoury food, I prepared a big pot of vegetables and let it boil until the veggies were soft and mushy, ie. overcooked. At this point, all the nutrients are in the water, not the vegetables anymore (hence the reason why one is not supposed to overcook fresh produce). You would think that the remaining broth would taste dull or bland, but after 10 days of no savoury food, it was amazing! It took a couple of sips to completely win Justin over, but just the smell had both of us going crazy.
Cabbage, courgette, coriander, garlic, bean sprouts, onion, bok choy, and a pinch of salt per serving.
It was the perfect treat for us!! Amazingly enough, this simple broth felt like a meal.
While at the grocery store this evening, we excitedly discussed what we would put into a salad this weekend. We will keep juicing while we ease back into a normal diet, trying to include as much salad and vegetables are possible.
Real food – solid food – is going to be incredible!
Stay tuned for days 13 and 14.
