A Jungle Baby Shower
On Saturday I attended a sweet friend’s jungle themed baby shower. One of her besties, Chloe, had organized the shower. Paula is 35 weeks pregnant, and you will soon see posts on pictures I have been taking of her and her baby beautiful baby bump. We met in Paula’s gorgeous new apartment, to chat, laugh, eat, and celebrate Paula. Since the gender of the baby has not been revealed yet, Chloe chose a jungle theme. The cupcakes and swiss rolls were made by the talented Cecelia – our resident Qingdao expat baker. If you live in Qingdao and you’re looking for a western style baked goods, check out her Facebook page —> Cecelia’s Sweets.
Since I arrived a little before most of the guests, I had some time to take pictures of the decor, food, cupcakes, and the hard working ladies who put it all together.
Hard at Work
The ladies made a wonderful selection of food. I love how the baguettes were made into a long snake, with grapes for eyes and carrots for a tongue. VERY CUTE! The guacamole, hummus, chicken – in fact, all of the dishes – were perfect for the party. There was tons to choose from, and we all thoroughly enjoyed eating, drinking, and socializing.
How cute are there cupcakes?
Cecelia did a wonderful job! Elephants, monkeys, lions and zebras – almost too cute to eat.
“Don’t Say Baby”
Always a favorite – we played “Don’t Say Baby”, where the ladies at the shower attached clips to their clothing. We were not allowed to say the word “baby” for the duration of the party. If you heard someone say the forbidden word, you were allowed to steal one of their clips. The lady with the most clips at the end of the shower – wins a prize!
Of course, “baby” might the most popular word at a BABY shower, so you can imagine the LAUGHTER this game brings!
Portrait of The Baby
Next up the ladies had to draw a portrait of the baby, but they weren’t allowed to look at the paper AND they had to draw the image with their paper on their forehead! Surprisingly enough, some of the portraits were pretty darn impressive!
And some, not so much!
Paula got to choose her favorite one. Since so many of them were quite good, she decided to go for the most abstract one.
Lot son fun was had during this game!
After we had all eaten and the games portion of the party was over, it was time for Paula to open her gifts. Paula’s son, Rayden, was eager to help his mama open the gifts. What a great little helper! He is going to make a wonderful big brother. We all sat, sipping on wine, and watching Paula open her gifts.
We all had a good time, and Paula was one happy mama. Chloe, and all those that helped her, did a fantastic job!
We are all looking forward to the arrival of Paula’s new baby. I can’t wait to kiss those little baby feet.
I am sure that you will be seeing quite a few more posts on Paula (and baby) in the next couple of months.
