Ha Long Bay, Vietnam:
Here are some of the things that we did after our Junk anchored for the night in the Bay.
A local selling snacks and drinks.
The upper deck.
The cloud cover made the sunset quite pretty!
The boys stood on the side of the junk and tried to decide whether they should jump into the water or not. I climbed onto the smaller transportation boat so that I could get some pictures of them jumping.
As I was watching I noticed the kitchen window open, and the chef lean out to dump a bucket of scrap food in the water!! In the picture above you can see Valentino, our tour guide, telling the chef to stop throwing the food! I shouted up to the guys, warning them to jump “far out”!!
Who’s going to be the first to go??
The water was freezing!!
Next, a young boy named Jonathan.
What a beautiful sight. I sat watching the sun go behind the islands, and I felt so grateful for my life which is so full of blessings.
The side of the boat wasn’t enough, so the boys decided to run and jump off the front of it too.
Jonathan gets a good running start to his jump!
Nice pose Jonathan!! 🙂
The dining room set for dinner.
He loves me!
Included in our tour package was a foot massage. We kept going to the massage room for our turn, but there were others waiting to go, so we waited until the end. Big mistake!! When we entered the room these guys looked extremely unimpressed that they hadn’t done everyone yet! You could tell that they were fed up, and not interested at all.
They seemed to be multitasking the crew. The guy massaging Justin’s feet was the chef too.
We hoped that the food had already been prepared 😉
For dinner we were served a Seafood Buffet with salads, and fresh fruit.
The food was quite tasty!
After dinner we had a few drinks on the deck of the junk boat.
When it was dark outside, we were told that we could do some Night Squid fishing. Jonathan and Justin tried their hand at this, but there didn’t seem to be much to catch.
In true Asian tradition, no evening would be complete without some karaoke to end it off.
No one wanted to sing, so Justin saved the night by belting out a few tunes!
He even got up and danced with the tour guide. It was very entertaining!
The star of the show!
Pretty soon we had to get to bed because we were exhausted after all the excitement.
More on Ha Long Bay coming soon!
