Here’s a little something that you should know about me –
I love surprises!! But they have to be COMPLETE surprises. Even though Justin and I had been chatting for ages about getting married, I knew that he wanted to officially propose. One night while we were on Kata Beach, Phuket, he asked me to go walking with him towards this ridiculously beautiful sunset. I knew what he was thinking because he was acting a little weird!! So in my eyes, the surprise is gone. I didn’t say anything, however I made sure to carry the backpack in case he had a ring hidden in there.
I must admit this was a GORGEOUS sunset…
This was definitely a good opportunity for him to ask me to marry him.
I kept running ahead of him, but he called me back each time. After living together and spending every single day in each other’s presence, I already knew all of his mannerisms well, and I knew that he was acting nervously.
He insisted on taking the backpack from me, but I wouldn’t let him have it.
The sun dipped behind the hill, so we ventured into the water to see the full sunset.
We walked far out into the water, but it was shallow so we were able to stand with the water only to our knees. Poor Justin just kept asking for the backpack… and he kept going further and further into the water to get close to me. He started to get a sneaky smile on his face, and I knew what he was about to do! For some reason, since I KNEW he was about to propose, I didn’t want him to do it at that moment… I wanted him to COMPLETELY surprise me! Hard part is… how do you surprise someone with something you have been taking about for ages!!
Finally I turned around and said, “I’m not giving you your backpack because I know that you are probably going to propose and then I won’t be surprised!!”
He was shocked, because he was he was planning to do exactly what I thought he was. He burst out laughing… we both did. That’s when he realized that he would have to propose when I LEAST expected it!!
As you can imagine, pictures of this sunset still make me smile!!!!! 😉
