Our sweet friends in London sent us a package, hoping that it would arrive before Christmas. Sadly, it did not, so they told us to “keep the tree up” until the package got to us. When Justin returned to work after a couple of days off for Christmas, a box was waiting for him. It might have arrived on Christmas night, or maybe even Boxing Day, but since we were at home, we can’t say for sure. We didn’t know why Bronwyn and Rudi had asked us to leave the tree up, but when we opened the gifts, it was clear why. It seems to be a tradition that Bronwyn sends us a different Christmas Tree ornament every year. The perfect thing is that we keep trying to think of what ornament that could symbolise the particular year that we are in, and she keeps beating us to it. Last year she sent a beautiful white heart with “To Have and To Hold” on it – that was our special ornament for 2013 (our wedding). This year she sent a beautiful frame-ornament that says “Baby’s First Christmas”. A perfect ornament to symbolize this past year, the year that we got to meet our sweet baby boy! That wasn’t all that was in the box. There were some cute items of clothing, like the Disney Frozen t-shirt (similar to the one pictured on the right). Bronwyn and Rudi also sent various spices, sauces and some South African tea. The thing that really surprised us the most was the personalised Christmas story that they made for Elijah. This will be such a nice story to read to him over the next few years!
