Last Day at Lake Faak
It had been an amazing stay, but our time at Lake Faak had come to an end. Nik’s parents had loaned us their lake house, so we all wrote a big THANK YOU on a card, and left it with some flowers on the dining room table. While the moms packed up everyone’s belongings, the dads lit up a fire and grilled some hot dogs and hamburgers for lunch. We were all busy, but the house was completely quiet. All three kids watched a movie on the tiny iPad screen, while the adults did what adults need to do…
Look at that amazing fire pit! The grill hangs over the coals. WE NEED ONE OF THESE!
weeks months (actually we always dream of this), we had dreamed of sitting around a fire, and even though we weren’t able to squeeze that in, Justin was pretty excited about being about to grill some food before we hit the road.
Back on the road… But this time we were heading somewhere with friends. We aren’t very speedy drivers, so we set the address on our GPS and let Willemina guide the way. *I actually chuckled when I wrote that… because, of all the places we could have got a speeding ticket on our TWO MONTH road trip, we got one while driving through Graz!!!*
It was almost as though the weather was making it easier for us to leave the lake. The whole time that we had been there, it was sunny and bright. But on our last day, the clouds rolled in and everything looked gloomy. In a way it made leaving a little easier. If it had been sunny until the final hour, we would have wanted to stay and swim more. We did, however, manage to fit in a quick morning swim before packing up all of our belongings. Oh man, this is what we are missing while we live in China… Swimming, lakes, driving around with friends, and grilling over a fire pit!
Our time at the lake was perfect!
